The United States’ agricultural history concentrated power through
exploited labor on stolen land. As the nation’s first expert
agriculturalists, Black and Indigenous peoples built the frameworks of the
North American farming system as we know it today, yet face the most
barriers to accessing land and establishing community food sovereignty. As
the self-sufficient urban farming movement grows, tools such as FarmLink
are emerging to aid young farmers of color through the complex system of
